History

COLTUR was established in 1957, but our history in the travel industry dates back more than 100 years.

Early sixties in our first office in Lima.

1929

Almost 100 years ago, our founder, Enrique Velasco Nieto, took his first job as a travel agent and was posted to Casablanca, Morocco.

1940

After crossing the Americas, Enrique finds a second homeland in Peru.

1970

We open our first office in the ancient Inca capital, Cusco.

1995

The third generation, composed of Miguel, Enrique, and Diego Velasco, assumes the management of COLTUR.

2014

We provide tourism services for the Lima COP 20 (United Nations Climate Change Conference), with more than 20,000 participants.

2024

We joined Virtuoso, the global luxury travel network, thereby reinforcing our commitment to offering exclusive, high-end experiences.

1930

Escaping the wars in Europe, COLTUR’s founder travels through both the old and the new world.

1957

A dream that comes true: COLTUR is established in Lima.

1978

We take part in the creation of the Peruvian Association of Inbound and Internal Tourism Operators (APOTUR).

2004

We become the official DMC for the Board of Governors of the IDB in Peru and serve more than 4,000 travelers simultaneously.

2022

We became part of Terra Sur, a unique team comprised of prestigious, leading DMCs in Argentina, Brazil and Chile. Together, we design tailor-made itineraries connecting extraordinary destinations across South America.
